Refitting of component factory.
Once the cylinder production moved to the new premises. There was a full refit of the component producing premises with new state of the art machines which increased the production capacity which also added to the range of components produced.
Expansion and move to purpose built cylinder premises.
Relocation of our cylinder production to a new purpose built 25,000 sq ft factory. New painting plant, washing facilities etc.
Robotic production development.
The first robot was delivered to PB which enabled the automation of specific machining processes.
Centre of excellence and research and development founded.
A dedicated team focus on developing state of the art hydraulic cylinder solutions, have extensive testing capabilities, perfect production processes and purpose build patented equipment and process solutions which are unique to Burnside Autocyl and PB.
Lily holmes appointed managing director.
In 2001 Lily Holmes, daughter of founder Paddy Byrne, took over as Managing Director of PB and Pat took on the role as MD in Burnside Autocyl in Tullow.
Burnside group established
In 1997 Burnside Engineering evolved into three separate companies to form the Burnside Group.
Addition of spring return valve actuator.
Seeing an opening in the design and production of the spring return valve actuator market PB jumped at the opportunity to add this product to their line.
Development of the P.B. log splitter.
PB Machine Tech founded.
Continually aware of the need to grow and diversify to best satisify their customers’ needs and that of a rapidly growing cylinder production line in Burnside Paddy, his two sons, Pat and Paschal, and daughter Lily founded PB Machine Tech in Bagenalstown. Initially founded to support the expanding Burnside factory and supply precision machined components, it soon grew beyond this.
Burnside Engineering founded.
In 1974 the company Burnside Engineering was founded by four brothers, Paddy, Jimmy, Tommy and Anthony Byrne in Ballymoon Carlow. From a farming and industrial background they quickly established themselves as a key supplier of precision made quality hydraulic products to domestic and British equipment manufacturers.
